Pier at Southend On Sea

Southend Pier stretches for 1.33 miles out into the Thames Estuary. It is a historical icon as well as being the longest pleasure pier in the world.

Clifftown Museum – a 1935 King George V jubille telephone box

There really is a ‘museum’ inside with information and pictures of Clifftown Estate, War Memorial, Floral Clock, Bandstand, Cliff Lift, Queen Victoria statue, Royal Terrace and The Pier. A museum for viewing one person at a time.

The Thames Estuary – The Yantlet Line

This estuary just east of the Tideway has a tidal range of 4 meters. Winds excluded, it moves at 2.6 knots (4.8 km/h, 3.0 mph). Boats are dry grounded… and then they’re not.

St Mary Magdalene Parish Church – Frinton

With its Saxon and Norman origins it has been a centre of worship for over 1000 years. It is regularly used as such each week as well as for the occasional wedding or funeral. At this location there are Commonwealth War Graves. Wildflower growth is encouraged.
